Speakers Corner![]() "Tax Secrets You Wish You Knew for Your Business" Speaker: Eric Sonego, CPA, formerly with Rev Can Tax Secrets You Wish You Knew for Your Business, presented by: Eric Sonego, CPA, formerly with Rev Canada & Currently SBA President Small Business Association Tax Seminar The presentation will include: How to relate to the CRA and review some of the recent and apparent changes, in the way the Tax Agency relates to businesses and individuals. We will: 1. Look at recent court decisions affecting income splitting, interest deductibility, shareholder loan repayment, automobile expenses and the application of Generally Anti Avoidance Rules (G. A. A. R.). 2. We will also look at tax implications of contracting out business versus employment and the future problems this might attract. Some GST rules that affect businesses and individuals. The new policy of filing corporate taxes in Ontario. Salary/Dividend options for small incorporated businesses. 3. We will also review some of the highlights of the recent Government of Canada budget. Finally, we will look at the use of the newly created Tax Ombudsman position. Jill Hawken is a Business Librarian at Main Library, 120 Metcalfe Street, in downtown Ottawa. Jill has worked in outreach and information service in public libraries for nine years before coming to the Ottawa Public Library in 2008. Jill joined the Business and Career Services Team at the Library as part of the Ottawa Public Library’s strategic plan for 2008-2011 to reach out to the Business community of Ottawa, to bring knowledge of our services to the community and to expand their support for businesses.
