The main organization in Canada, pertaining to Asia is The Canadian Asian Studies Association (CASA). CASA is a non-profit organization seeking to expand knowledge about all different parts of Asia in Canada. the organization is split into three different councils: The East Asia Council, The Southeast Asia Council and The South Asia Council. Even though separated into different councils, all the councils meet together to discuss matters of the organization. There has been meetings held in Victoria, Montreal, Edmonton, la Malbaie and Vancouver. The organization has also started publishing a newsletter. They elect board members at their annual general meeting.
The East Asia Council (EAC) is made up of members of the Canadian Asian Studies Association (CASA), who are interested in studying East Asia, such as China, Japan, the two Koreas, Taiwan, and Mongolia. The organization invites people from all over the world that are interested in this region on Asia to join.
The Canadian Council for Southeast Asia Studies (CCSEAS) is made of all sorts of students, scholars and activists. Members of the council are interested in studying all different parts of Southeast Asia and its connections to the the world. The CCSEAS also has started to publish a newsletter two times a year. They hold conferences to elect board members and discuss organization matter. Such meetings have been held at he University of Victoria, the University of Montreal, York University, Universite Laval and the University of British Columbia.
The South Asia Council is made up of members interested in studying South Asia and it’s connection to the world. This council also partakes in the meeting held by CASA.
